National Park is a typeface inspired by the router-carved letterforms found on wooden signage at Rocky Mountain National Park. The design process began with vector skeletons representing the paths a router bit would follow, then incorporated optical adjustments and refinements to ensure legibility across multiple weights and sizes for print, web, and mobile use. The typeface is offered in seven weights plus a variable version and was completely redrawn by Andrea Herstowski and Ben Hoepner for inclusion in the Google Fonts Library, with Jeremy Shellhorn contributing as a collaborator. The project, which documents and makes accessible this distinctive National Park lettering style, uses FontBakery for quality assurance and is built with GitHub Actions automation.
