Nix is a purely functional package manager for Linux and other Unix systems that makes package management reliable and reproducible. Built in C++, it provides both a command-line tool and experimental C APIs for embedding the Nix language evaluator and interacting with the Nix store programmatically. The project was created by Eelco Dolstra as the subject of his 2006 PhD thesis and is now maintained by a dedicated maintainer team, with contributions from a worldwide developer community.
