Liquidsoap is a statically typed scripting language built with OCaml for multimedia streaming, particularly suited for netradios and webtvs. The project provides a rich collection of operators for creating and transforming streams, handling media file generation, HTTP backends, and automation tasks. Developed by the Savonet team since 2003, Liquidsoap is built using OCaml, the Dune build system, and integrates with numerous audio and video libraries including JACK, ALSA, FFmpeg, libmad, libfaad, and frei0r through dedicated OCaml bindings. The project is free and open-source under the GPL license, with tooling support for VSCode, Neovim, and other editors.
