Tech stack & purpose

Godot Engine is a feature-packed, cross-platform 2D and 3D game engine built in C++ that allows users to create games from a unified interface and export them to desktop platforms (Linux, macOS, Windows), mobile platforms (Android, iOS), and web-based platforms (HTML5). The engine is completely free and open source under the MIT license, developed and maintained by Juan Linietsky and Ariel Manzur with community contributions, and supported by the Software Freedom Conservancy. It includes comprehensive development tools and infrastructure such as a multi-platform build system using Docker and SCons, an FBX model importer with its own parser, support for multiple file formats and compression standards, platform-specific ports written in C++ and language-specific bindings (Java for Android, JavaScript for HTML5), and a translation system coordinated through Hosted Weblate.
