Tech stack & purpose

opam-repository-archive is a repository of archived OCaml packages maintained by the OCaml community, containing older versions and unmaintained packages removed from the main opam-repository. The project addresses performance and usability issues with the primary repository by storing packages that are no longer widely used or maintained, while keeping them available for developers debugging historical issues or studying package compatibility. Built for the OCaml package management ecosystem, the archive works with existing opam tools out of the box and tracks archival metadata in standardized opam file fields to document why each package version was archived.
