Tech stack & purpose

Gproc is an extended process dictionary for Erlang that extends the built-in process dictionary with features like arbitrary term aliases, non-unique properties, efficient querying via QLC and match specifications, atomic name transfers, and counters with aggregation. The library is built in Erlang and supports both local and distributed (networked) registries, with optional dependencies on gen_leader and edown. It was created by Ulf Wiger and Joseph Wayne Norton and was first introduced at the ACM SIGPLAN Erlang Workshop in 2007. Key use cases include system inspection and metadata indexing, publish-subscribe patterns, and environment variable caching.
