Tech stack & purpose

MariOCaml is a web-browser implementation of the Super Mario Bros platformer written entirely in OCaml, featuring 2D platformer mechanics, a procedural level generator, and various enemies and items. The project uses OCaml as its primary language and leverages js_of_ocaml to transpile the code to JavaScript for running in modern web browsers, with graphics rendered on an HTML 5 canvas. The architecture employs a director model to manage game state and follows a modular design with distinct components for handling the game loop, viewport management, procedural generation, actors, sprites, particles, and canvas rendering. MariOCaml was originally created as a final project for Cornell University's CS3110 course in Fall 2015 by Matthew Hsu, Ashley Xue, and Liam Bui.
