Tech stack & purpose

Amstelvar is a parametric variable font by David Berlow inspired by sixteenth to twentieth-century Dutch and Belgian typeface designs. It was the first public demonstration of Type Network's parametric axes approach to OpenType Variable Fonts technology and includes both Roman and Italic styles with extensive language support via the Google Latin Plus glyph set. The font features multiple categories of variable axes including registered axes like weight and width, optical size scaling from 8 to 144 points, and specialized parametric axes for fine typographic control. It is distributed under the SIL Open Font License.
