Tech stack & purpose

Video.js is an open-source HTML5 video player built with JavaScript that plays all common web media formats including streaming protocols like HLS and DASH across desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and web-based Smart TVs. The project is extensible through a robust plugin ecosystem and has been in development since May 2010, with current sponsorship from Mux Inc. and CDN hosting provided by Fastly. Video.js can be deployed via npm, CDN, or included directly in HTML, and it supports both automatic and manual player initialization.
