Tech stack & purpose

auto-changelog is a command line tool that generates a changelog from git tags and commit history. Built with Node.js and distributed via npm, it parses git commit messages and version tags to automatically create formatted changelog files. The tool supports multiple template formats including compact and keepachangelog styles, and offers extensive customization options for URL patterns, commit filtering, and monorepo configurations. It has been used by projects including Modernizr, Netlify, Neutrino, and Velocity.js.
