Tech stack & purpose

Inter is a typeface designed specifically for computer screens, featuring a tall x-height to improve readability and available as a variable font with OpenType features like contextual alternates and tabular numbers. The project is built from source files in Glyphs format along with hand-written OpenType feature code, compiled using Python, Bash, and Make to generate approximately 80 font files across multiple weights and styles. Created by Rasmus Andersson, Inter is free and open source under the SIL Open Font License, and the repository includes supplementary tools for font sampling and kerning comparison. The project is widely used by organizations including NASA, Mozilla, Figma, and Unity.
