The OWASP Artificial Intelligence Security Verification Standard (AISVS) is a community-driven security requirements catalog designed to help developers, architects, security engineers, and auditors verify the security of AI-enabled systems across their entire lifecycle—from data collection and model training through deployment, monitoring, and retirement. The standard comprises 12 chapters covering 191 testable requirements organized around key AI security domains including training data integrity, input validation, model lifecycle management, infrastructure security, access control, supply chain security, model behavior and output control, memory and embeddings security, orchestration and agentic systems, Model Context Protocol (MCP) security, adversarial robustness, and monitoring and logging. AISVS was founded by Jim Manico and is currently led by a team including Jim Manico, Otto Sulin, Rico Komenda, and Russ Memisyazici, following the same community-driven philosophy as the OWASP Application Security Verification Standard (ASVS), with the requirement that every control be verifiable, testable, and implementable.
