Cronos is the first Ethereum-compatible blockchain network built on Cosmos SDK technology. Cronos aims to massively scale the DeFi, GameFi, and overall Web3 user community by providing builders with the ability to instantly port apps and crypto assets from other chains while benefiting from low transaction fees, high throughput, and fast finality.
Cronos is an EVM-compatible blockchain network built on the Cosmos SDK, combining Ethermint for EVM execution, CometBFT for consensus, and IBC for interoperability. The project addresses scaling challenges in DeFi, GameFi, and Web3 by enabling developers to port applications and assets from other chains while benefiting from low fees, high throughput, and fast finality. Written in Go, Cronos uses a custom architecture centered on the `x/cronos` module for token mapping and EVM integration, along with optimized store backends (memiavl and versiondb) for performance, and is maintained by Crypto.org Chain via forked versions of the Cosmos SDK, Ethermint, and CometBFT pinned in its module dependencies.
