Tech stack & purpose

The data-plane-api project hosts Protocol Buffer definitions and REST API specifications for Envoy, a proxy platform. Built around protocol buffers, the repository contains configuration schemas for Envoy's bootstrap, filters, and services across multiple domains including HTTP authentication (JWT), network proxies (Dubbo, Thrift, ZooKeeper), and gRPC/REST services. Maintained by the Envoy project, this repository serves as a read-only mirror of the canonical API definitions housed in the main Envoy repository, enabling other proxy solutions and management systems to interoperate against these universal data plane APIs without requiring the full Envoy implementation.
